In my last blog I mentioned that in addition to everything else I am doing I am writing a book. As my web site mentions I grew up in the projects of South Philly. We were very poor and we wanted a better life. We worked hard to get out of there but there were plenty of setbacks along the way. Even when we did get out life still had plenty of curve balls to throw my way but in spite of getting knocked down many times I always found a way to get back up and move forward. I was telling my daughter some of these stories and she said she thought that could be a book. “I’ll bet people would find it motivational.” she said. Well I hope she’s right because I’m writing it with the help of Mary Jane Beaufrand. She is the author of The River and Primavera.
Besides getting started on the book I’ve had a pretty busy month. We got this site up and running, George A. Santino.com, and I’ve released my first single, That’s Life. I was very pleased to see it make it to the top 10 of the Amazon Swing Jazz best sellers list and number 1 on the hot new releases list. I thought that was very cool. Also, my first CD is done and will be released on May 15th and we’ve begun work on a music video for the title song of the CD; Come Fly With me. This is a lot more work than I thought it would be but we’re having a great time doing it. This is another project with Erich Benedict of With An H Media and his great team.
It’s been a lot of fun however but I haven’t forgotten I’m supposed to be retired and my wife does remind me of that from time to time. But we have gone to lunch a lot more than we did when I worked at Microsoft and we’ve seen a few movies in the middle of the day. Now that was strange. We also spent a few days in Seaside OR and we went to see Paul Anka in concert last week. The man still puts on a great show. So, as you can see, I’m not working all the time.
